Equality and Diversity

This policy has been developed to enable TH Michaels to achieve its strategic aim of promoting Equality and Diversity and achieving the strategic objectives.

  • To address inequalities in participation, retention, achievement and progression.
  • To improve practice as an employer in promoting equal opportunities and recruiting, developing and retaining a diverse workforce.

TH Michaels are committed to achieving equality of opportunity for all actual or potential employees and to fostering a culture of equality by:

  • Recognizing that the issue of race, gender, sexual orientation, class, age disability (whether learning or physical) and religion are factors to be considered in all our professional activities and decision making.
  • Ensuring that every employee is treated fairly and with equal dignity and respect and is enabled to work to the best of their potential.

TH Michaels will ensure that Equal Opportunities are applied to all aspects of employment, from vacancy advertising, selection, recruitment, promotion, engagement of agency staff and training to conditions of service and reasons for termination of employment.

In seeking to achieve a balanced workforce at all levels TH Michaels will ensure that no employee, job applicant, candidate for promotion will be disadvantaged or treated less favorably because of conditions or requirements that are not related to the job.

TH Michaels will not tolerate any discrimination on the grounds of race, religion/political beliefs, colour, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, marital/parental status, age, physical disabilities, learning difficulties or mental health problems and trade union membership/activities.

TH Michaels is opposed to any form of less favorable treatment of individuals and/or groups, whether through direct or indirect discrimination, harassment, victimization or segregation.

It is the duty of every member of staff to avoid discriminatory practices, to discourage them in others and to accept personal responsibility for the application of this policy.

Employees are encouraged and supported in reporting any instances of discrimination. TH Michaels will ensure that all allegations are fully investigated with the assistance of the Managing Director with due regard to confidentiality.
